A Republican party official says U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida will not seek a second term in 2010.
The official said Martinez was scheduled to make the announcement at a Tuesday morning press conference in Orlando. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make the announcement.
Martinez was elected in 2004 after serving as the U.S. secretary for Housing and Urban Development for President George W. Bush.
Good riddance of the man who principally helped wreck the GOP, along with Bush and the other RINOs.
Him and Jeb in 2012. :(
Now...if he pulls a Larry Craig on the GOP...
Another RINO bites the dust!
That's most awesome news of the week so far.
Good riddance. Although maybe we should wait and see what kind of RINO tool they come up with to replace him before we cheer too loudly.
Okenyan will accomplish Mel’s political goals. RINOs can go home now.
Now, lets rebuild the Florida GOP - yes, we are in control here, but Crist and Martinez aren’t CONSERVATIVE!! (Adam Putnam for Senate!!)
Housing and Urban Development- that explains it all; that federal department can ONLY breed RINOS!..
Thank God! I’ve been hoping for this since about 2 months after I voted for him! Good riddance, to yet another sellout Rino!
If true best news today, big time.
Nah, the most awesome news of the week was Bama kicking Awburn’s butt 36-0....Roll Tide....but this is a close second....! Hopefully Jeb will run for that seat now....
Please GOD,let it be true.
Just this morning I wrote the turd a nasty letter to his senate e-mail.
Told him what a disgrace he is.
Amnesty loving p.o.s.
Now we need to elect a conservative in Florida, not a traitor. The weasel knew he wouldn’t be re-elected, after having spent 6 years betraying the nation and the people of Florida. Only democrats can make a career of that and never have to worry about the next election!
better not be or I’ll work for whoever else runs even obamma
Go Gators, beat Bama
:-)
Who might the GOP run? Considering the rather bad year they had in FL in ‘08 I hope this seat is not lost to a Dem! If Obama stumbles maybe they can beat Nelson in 2012. Though he must be getting up there in years too. Maybe he will do FL a favor and not run for a third term.
