I have the HFA’S and they do not work well. I’ve had trouble inhaling them during an attack even with careful attention to instructions. Used with the spacer, they are useless.

I have to use the inhaler two to three times rather than once in order to get the meds inhaled.

“Why “useless” with the spacer?”

There isn’t enough “ump” to get the inhaled medication into the inhaler in one dose. Then it isn’t aerosolized enough to inhale from the spacer.
