If there is no war, the party that heads the Indian government won’t last the year. Its constituents will pull out because they know they’ll be ruined in the coming election.

This is posturing - telling Condi, look we don’t want war but make those Pakis give us something we can show our countrymen and declare success. Obviously Pakistan thinks they have a trump - the blackmail option to pullout 100,000 troops from the Afghan front - so they won’t budge and the compromise option they’ll propose won’t work for India.

America has no options here but to let them have a go at each other - bring Israel into the mix and let it loose on Iran and let the whole region blow. I think America will be better off pulling out of Afghanistan for the short term and work with Israel and India to sink Pakistan and Iran. That way, when they’re done, Afghanistan will be an easier mess to deal with.

We will need Russia in this picture. I think America needs to choose between the Mullah and the Bear.

The Mumbai Massacre is probably not a large enough trigger event to start a war between India and Pakistan. India has made such amazing progress in recent years that it’s surely reluctant to be drawn into a prolonged conventional conflict with Pakistan. And neither country wants a nuclear exchange.

Dont worry. The bastards in power right now will come back! Indian people as whole have lost the will to fight and will forget this incident as one of numerous ones in last 4yrs since this govt. came to power! There have been 3000+ deaths in terror attacks in India since 2004. That is second only to Iraq! The fact that the terrorists in this attack had detailed plans to go back to Pakistan says a lot about their confidence in our security forces and govt. to f*ck things up! They know that even if caught, the present govt. with all its appeasement policies towards ‘people of peace’, will let them go! We have ‘Afzal Guru’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Afzal), the terrorist convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack case, on death row for the past 4 yrs despite being sentenced to death by the Supreme Court! This govt. is just afraid and has no balls to do anything about terrorism or even confront Pakistan about it! And we have f*cking liberal morons here in US who hate and protest against President Bush for taking strong steps to keep US free of any attack for the past 7yrs! If only we have someone like Bush, a person with some balls!
