Texas Border Coalition is supporting the nomination of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama said last week that he intends to nominated Napolitano for post.
Eagle Pass Mayor Chad Foster serves chairman of the Texas Border Coalition and issued a statement about the intended nomination on Monday.
The Texas Border Coalition welcomes Gov. Napolitanos nomination to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security," Foster said. As governor of a border state, Gov. Napolitano understands from practical experience that securing our nations borders and maintaining an efficient flow of commerce between the U.S., Canada and Mexico cannot be mutually exclusive, especially in these tough economic times."
Foster said Napolitano is to fixing the nations broken immigration system through comprehensive immigration reform, which includes a temporary guest worker program.
"We share her commitment to immigration reform as an essential element of real border security," Foster said.
Texas Border Coalition officials have been fight for the past year against the controversial border fence.
Foster said he believes that Napolitano's appointment would end that political stalemate in the coalition's favor.
The TCB is an "open borders" group...
Is there anything in Napolitano's background that says she is qualified in the area of Security?
She is a anti-gun liberal socialist.
Just what the "Big O" wants.
I am sure this has made many people in Arizona very happy to see her leave.
Well at lease Kay Baily Hutchison will have someone of a like mind to work with blocking the fence.
coaching Anita Hill how to lie to gullible senators (sarc)
Draft Sheriff Joe!!!!

We ALREADY HAVE temporary guest worker programs. But as long as they, ALL OF THEM, get away with continuing to make seemingly ignorant statements, there is a chance that clueless Americans will agree.
Quislings Alert!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
BUMP!
It’s getting downright maddening! They continue to get away with pretending as if there is no such thing in order to pretend there is a dire need....when all along, the programs already exist!
They count on the stupidity and ignorance of many Americans, including the underlying or hidden meanings. Comprehensive immigration reform or Temporary guest work program = path to citizenship = amnesty. We just don’t have enough people with a public voice who are able to call them out on it every time they get away with doing it.
We are at a crossroads and I wish we had someone, like Hunter or Tancredo, who would step up to the plate, again, to represent the majority of Americans and run with this issue. We need an anti-illegal immigration, pro-effective border security Czar ;)
I don’t think the immigration issue will be the center of his world,
but our newly elected Rep. McClintock (R) is very good at framing issues.
