My own “starting point” for the death of the Constitution was John Adams’ signing of the “Alien and Sedition Acts” (June/July 1798).

However, I think what Mr. Obeyme has in mind for us will make us yearn for those days.

That's true. I was thinking back as far as Lincoln suspending the Writ of Habeas Corpus during the War of Northern Aggression. Plenty of examples throughout the years, that's for sure.

However, I think what Mr. Obeyme has in mind for us will make us yearn for those days.

Yeah, but he can't do all of it alone. He'll have lots of help on both sides of the aisle and in the courts. I suppose that's what happens when you go from a citizen legislative body to one populated by career politicians who've never done anything besides run for office and use the people's money to pad their own wallets....
