Some Pakistanis have rallied against claims of links to the Mumbai attackers
|
Indian media reports detailing Pakistani links to the audacious Mumbai attacks have been met with deep scepticism in Pakistan.
"Why do they always blame us?" said an airline worker in the port city of Karachi, from where some of the gunmen are alleged to have set off for Indian shores.
"Any time something happens in India, they say Pakistan is behind it, but they don't come up with any proof."
A boutique owner agreed. "Everybody's out to get us," he said as his customers expressed fear that Indian agents would retaliate by striking Karachi.
Such blanket dismissals fail to acknowledge Pakistan's history of using Islamist militant groups to fight proxy wars against India in the disputed region of Kashmir.
One of these, Lashkar-i-Taiba, was blamed for the attack on India's parliament in 2001 that brought the two countries to the brink of war.
However, it denied that, as well as any involvement in the Mumbai atrocities ,which lasted three days and left over 170 people dead and hundreds injured.
Indian 'denial'
Whatever the case, Pakistanis say Indian accusations have become reflex actions that don't take changing realities into account.

India should absolutely advance ALL evidence they have about this attack. This is no time for anal secrecy complexes.
The ‘new’ government of Pakistan might actually have the nerve and the justification to finally and fully exorcise it’s ISI demons , once and for all. Imagine a Pakistan without those scum lurking behind every plot ! Enough already.

From the Long War journal:
Captured Mumbai attacker implicates Pakistani military, intel

The only member of the jihadi assault team captured during the Mumbai attacks has fingered several Pakistani organizations as providing support to the group, according to reports in the Indian press.
Ajmal Amir Kasab (or Azam Amir Kasav) was captured by police after a shootout near the docks in southern Mumbai. He was wounded and feigned being dead, but was picked out by police after he was seen breathing.
The siege in Mumbai lasted 62 hours and claimed more than 195 lives. Terror assault teams held the city hostage as they fanned out through the city and attacked policemen, five-star hotels, a train station, a cinema, a cafe, and a residential complex.
Kasab has provided details on how his team of 16 terror commandos departed Karachi, linked up with a freighter carrying arms, hijacked an Indian fishing boat, and infiltrated into Mumbai via inflatable rafts. [See Indian commandos end 62-hour siege of Mumbai]
Kasab has implicated the Pakistani Navy and the Dawood Ibrahim criminal network based in Karachi for providing assistance and training for the Mumbai assault team, police sources told India Today. The plot to attack Mumbai was hatched more than a year ago, Kasab told police.
According to the police sources, Kasab said 20 Pakistanis began training in terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir more than one year ago. The group trained in the Kashmiri camps "almost five-and-half months, during which the terrorist were taught the use of sophisticated arms and ammunition."
After the training at the Kashmiri camps, the group was "given a months leave and were ordered to gather in Karachi after the break for training in boating, rowing and swimming by the Pakistan Navy."
The terrorists were then given maps and other information on their targets in Mumbai and trained in attacking the targets, India Today reported. Earlier, Kasab said several members of the assault team visited Mumbai to scout the targets and familiarize themselves with the city.
Kasab also claimed members from Dawood Ibrahim's criminal network provided logistical support for the Mumbai assault team while they were in Karachi.

india had better be careful. They botched up this crisis and the last thing they need is to create another crisis with their nuclear armed neighbor.

Boy where have I heard this before? Terrorist attacks pulled off by Muslim radicals and the Muslim nations that celebrated the initial attacks deny any links then blame the people who are the victims.

They blame Pakistan since it is a GINO (government in name only) and outside groups and governments actually run the country, not the Pakistani government.

They all have nukes over there Iran, India and Pakistan and then there is China and Russia is not too far from over there. And who doesn't have nukes in the surrounding countries, has topography that protects it as well as nukes and from nukes such as Afghanistan.

yes you are right, could be a catalyst which is why I mentioned how they all had nukes and topography and how close China and Russia are to Iran, India, Pakistan etc.

“Why do they always blame us?”
because Pakistan is home to millions of members of the Cult of Death.

India has far more proof than the US had for linking AQ to the September 11 attacks.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
The last time we gave them the evidence, they carefully rolled it and used it to wipe their a$$ with it.

US tells Pakistan to cooperate in India probe
” The president of Pakistan is the elected Pakistani president and he therefore has the legitimacy that comes with election,” she said. “The military now serves in a civilian government. We have obviously good contacts with all Pakistani officials ... but the government of Pakistan has a legitimate and elected president”

Our mistake in the US , both for 9/11 and the beginning of OIF , was to NOT release all the evidence we had , or found out , soon enough . The fixation with operational secrecy turned around to bite us as well. India should take a cue from this mistake and lay it’s hand of cards down for all the world to see. At worse case , Pakistan be be so shamed by the revelations that it may actually clean up the horrendous snake pit that it’s ISI has become. These evil purveyors of the two faced game need to be exposed for the world to see . Pakistan will never win it’s own war on extremist Jihadi murderers
as long as it keeps these vipers protected in their own closet .

The simplest evidence India has is the fact that the leader of the LET, a recognised terrorist group walks around freely throughout Pakistan’s major cities. His operating base is just outside Lahore. If that’s not evidence of state complicity-i don’t know what else fits the bill.
To: sukhoi-30mki
and if the fellow is so easy to identify , India needs to do a Mossad on him. Why not....
To: LeoWindhorse
Because he’s got all bases covered-multiple layers of security. The collateral damage would be too much.
To: sukhoi-30mki
India should contract Israel to take care of their problems for them. After all , Jews were specifically targeted .
They could do it regardless of whatever security those people think they have .
