Obama’s Choice for U.N. Is Advocate of Strong Action Against Mass Killings
NY Times ^

CHICAGO — President-elect Barack Obama has chosen his foreign policy adviser, Susan E. Rice, to be ambassador to the United Nations, picking an advocate of “dramatic action” against genocide as he rounds out his national security team, Democrats close to the transition said Sunday.

-snip-

John R. Bolton, who was one of Mr. Bush’s ambassadors at the United Nations, would not discuss Ms. Rice’s selection, but said it was unwise to elevate the position to the cabinet again.

“One, it overstates the role and importance the U.N. should have in U.S. foreign policy,” Mr. Bolton said. “Second, you shouldn’t have two secretaries in the same department.”

During her first run at the State Department, Ms. Rice was a point person in responding to Al Qaeda’s 1998 bombing of United States Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. But her most searing experience was visiting Rwanda after the 1994 genocide when she was still on the N.S.C. staff.

As she later described the scene, the hundreds, if not thousands, of decomposing, hacked up bodies that she saw haunted her and fueled a desire to never let it happen again.

“I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again, I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required,” she told The Atlantic Monthly in 2001. She eventually became a sharp critic of the Bush administration’s handling of the Darfur killings and last year testified before Congress on behalf of an American-led bombing campaign or naval blockade to force a recalcitrant Sudanese government to stop the slaughter.

It is funny how liberals never seemed to mind Saddam Hussein’s mass killings of his own people, or when other liberals like Pol Pot and Mao Tse Tung engaged in genocide.

He’s right, of course, and I knew I’d agree with his take on this.

She had her chance to cure Rwanda during her time in the Clinton administration. But she and Clinton didn’t, and she criticizes Bush for doing the same as Clinton.

By “dramatic action” she means “strong verbal condemnation”.

I can see Rice on the bow of a naval ship with a megaphone: “Stop fighting and be nice to one another or I will scold you again!”

Mao Zedong = 65 million dead per The Black Book of Communism.

Many liberals believe that price was a necessary evil.

Just what we need. Another position to be filled by somebody that thinks the US should be the world's watch dog. We need somebody that will look out for America's interests.

So we have another Clinton retread that failed the first go-around - that actually led to the WTC attack - and now she wants another try... Brilliant thinking Hussein...

We can be virtually certain that will be America's fate with this pack of Communist apparatchiks in charge.

I read something over at Little Green Footballs about this piece of work. In keeping with the chosen ones most visible supporters, Rev. Wright, Clypso Louie, Ayers, et al, this woman feels that the JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSS are the one and only thing that keeps peace from breaking out all over the Mid East. The Jews are in trouble...........big time.

She needs to be sent, STAT, to visit the morgues and the wounded in Mumbai. Maybe then she won’t want to let THAT happen again either.

You are right...and so if I was Israel, I would take care of Iran before Rice becomes the UN Ambassador, and the other Jew hating Obama people get in office.

Once he is in office, Israel’s future will be right in the crosshairs.

Of course the U.N. and Obama’s solution to mass killings is gun confiscation.

This is nothing but a NYT’s coverup piece on Rice. If the ridiculous bombings of a few Taliban or Al Qaeda tents after the 1998 Africa bombings was the best that Rice could offer, then she is worthless, and so was her boss.

Gee, don’t invade Iraq to oust a terrorist-enabler and regional psychopath, but let’s invade the Sudan where the Red Chinese have a very big investment and presence.

Yeah, right. Obama the Liberator. Bullsh*t.

Remember, this is the NY Times, the enemy of America. Its publisher Pinch Sulzberger wanted the VC/No. Vietnamese to win in Vietnam. Nuff said.
