Here's where we go down a slippery slope.

There are really only two issues that strongly divide the two parties.

The Right to an Abortion and the Right to Bear Arms.

The left live in fear that we will overturn Roe vs Wade, and the right live in fear that their guns will be confiscated.

I don't have a solution to our differences, but Abortion issue is the elephant in the room with the youth vote.

FWIW, I am totally against abortion...I'm just sayin..

The two issues you suggest are subsets of the bigger issue of the amount and extend of government control over our lives, ie, freedom and liberty vs. tyranny and slavery. Conservatives want a small government according to Constitutional principles. Leftists want a massive government running everything in America and, eventually, the abolition of private business.

Not just with the youth. The only approach abortion is in the context of the constitution and limited government. The party line should be that states should be free to regulate abortion as they see fit. This does not satisfy people like us that oppose abortion but it is a tactical position. If Roe vs. Wade were overturned on this argument it would reduce the numbers of abortions and please the pro-lifers. This approach also gives room for otherwise conservative leaners to join the movement.

There are really only two issues that strongly divide the two parties.

There is one issue that strongly divides the GOP--Immigration and amnesty. And it has the potential to be a a major wedge issue within the Dem party.
