Read Hebrews 11 where it tells about all those righteous of God who were persecuted and killed and *did not receive the promises of God*. It’s obvious that many righteous will fall and be persecuted and that the evil in the world will be given its time to conquer and win in these situations. God even says that the saints *will not prevail* at a time that God determines that they will not be able to do so.
This is to bring judgement upon the world, and right now, I would say that the U.S. is due a bit of that judgement of God.
Of course, I also believe that Obama is the judgement of God on this nation, too... If he carries out what a lot of people here think he will do, that will definitely be a severe judgement upon this nation...
