"Do you know what it means to be alone faced with all these Arabs ?" Mr Sarkozy asked. "To have them on the telephone? Arabs are difficult to deal with, you know."

The Reflex weekly published excerpts of what it claimed was the verbatim account of Mr Sarkozy's meeting with Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek in France on Oct 31, based on a document drawn up by the Czech embassy in Paris.

His sarcasm would have been applauded.
