We think alike. In hotels and other places with crowds, the first thing I look for is an escape route just in case there is a problem.

Many years ago, I took a date to a restaurant. We stumpled in on an armed robbery in progress. As they herded us into the dining room, I kept moving us closer and closer to the exit. We got out while it was still in progress.

Yep. Never ignore the not so obvious route out of a stampede--up. (not good in a fire or gunplay, but better odds than getting trampled or crushed). I am always looking at things, assessing their potential to be climbed, stability in a stampede, etc. "What if?" is always playing in my head when I am in crowded places, which is why I live where crowds are pretty much optional. I would never relax otherwise.
