“Life long conservative who is slowly coming out in favor of something besides what we have now.”

You’re right - and I don’t like where we are, either. It’s just that I was hoping for something other than national health care. I used to have a transcript of an 0bama interview - the link is broken now, but if I recall correctly the interview stated that basic health care would be for everyone, yes - but with basic health care you only get crutches and meds for arthritis, not a joint replacement (as an example). The good news is everyone is covered. The bad news is your quality of life will be affected.

Even Canada has begun charging for their health care in some places. The system is breaking down universally; here we are ready to try it out?

There’s got to be a better way. I’m very disappointed that the GOP hasn’t tackled this as a national problem and come up with a compromise rather than forcing us to choose one extreme over the other. Even my doctors are admitting it’s a huge problem and they’re not surprised 0bama got in based on this one issue alone.

I know that nationlizing HC will be a disaster. I realize there are no simple measures. I am just frustrated with the way things are going.
I even volunteer for one day a week at the local hospitol and I get 20% off my bills.

America is forced to spend “too much” money to defend the world, keep sea lanes open and be the first to arrive with overwhelming disaster aid.
However we get no thanks, just disdain and outright hate.

We have to start charging other countries for out military services. Other countries get a free ride because of hard working Americans such as some of us at FR. Their countries are free to give the people health care and 35 hour works and 4 weeks vacation and they call themselves enlightnened simply because America pays for their defense.
