My first thought was Somali pirates getting even for that ship the Indian Navy sunk.
More likely the Indian's had intel that a ship borne attack was on the way, so they sunk a pirate/islamic terrorist "naval asset". Unfortunately they didn't get the ship (or ships based on latest reports) that were carrying the terrorists.
