Interesting story, and it gives me the opportunity to ask a coupla dumb questions.
What is this "long form" "short form" business?
In California it's my understanding that all birth records are public records and accessible by anyone who visits the records office for viewing.
Is that still not the case?
Is Hawaii different?
When did birth records become priviledged information?
I missed the memo.

Hawaii IS different in several ways.
Firstly, birth records are private and can only be requested by those involved.
Secondly, Hawaii produces a Certificate of Live Birth, which is a short form birth certificate (this is what has put up on the internet and proven to be a forgery)
Thirdly, at the time Obama was born, Hawaii permitted children born overseas to be registered for birth (which may explain the point above).

It’s encouraging to think that that instead of a DoS attack the site was down because of those of us who are news hungry for info on this story
I can’t speak for all parts of the country, but when I address this with folks they’re surprised because they haven’t heard about it. But, also surprising, they understand why it’s important.

Until that is produced, your claim is based on an unprovable premise.
