From the article one may get the impression that the terrorists were targeting the police commanders. However, from the information gleaned from one of the TV reports it appears that the commanders were leading from the front.

Mr Karkare was killed when he went into the metro station trying to negotiate the release of the hostages.

Prayers to all victims and their families. May the people of India be safe in the coming days and all those who have plotted and gone through with this terrorism killed or put out of commission.

Not to be nit picky, but an AK47 is not a “heavy machine gun”.

This is a very unusual terrorist attack. Multiple sites are unusual, but not unprecedented.

But the fact that it’s a siege is. It’s a terrorist attack not lasting a few seconds or minutes, but stretching into its second day. It’s more like a military attack than a terrorist incident.

The terrorists aren’t going to escape. So one wonders why they don’t kill all the hostages and just focus on killing more Indian police and army. The hostages are just a distraction to them.

Very puzzling.
