Somali men cast longing looks home (MN Somalis)

Ilyas Maye, 24, is one of the young Minneapolis Somali men who has returned to his homeland. He went back last year, for three months.

"I went outside to see what the world had to offer me," said Maye, who owns a clothing store on Lake Street in Minneapolis. "And I would go back again."

He did not, he insisted, go to fight. He went for a new perspective on his life in America. And others are doing the same thing, Maye and several other local Somali men said Wednesday.

Many have found only disappointment here -- lost jobs, trouble with the law, poor prospects. So, he said, they go back to Somalia for a fresh start or to reconnect with their culture. Or, he said, "to do something good."

But federal officials continue to investigate whether some young Somali men are returning to their homeland with more dangerous intentions, a source familiar with the case said, adding that several have left the Twin Cities in recent months. What authorities are trying to determine is whether they are participating in terrorist activities.

Our politicians in both parties should be tarred and feathered and banished from the USA for allowing massive immigration of people like these Somalis who have almost nothing in common with traditional America.

Why was it necessary to introduce these elements into America over the last 45 years?
What purpose has it served to intentionally change the racial, religious and cultural balance of the country?
Many of our serious social and cultural problems of today did not exist before 1965 and almost every problem has been made worse by massive immigration, legal and illegal, from cultures that have little in common with our values and traditions.

The people from many different backgrounds and countries who came here over the centuries embraced their new country and acepted American values and culture. But the new wave of immigrants have not embraced America - they spend their time working to change it into a copy of the flyblown cesspits they left behind.

Its time to end this insane swooning over multi-culturalism and fire up the burners under the old melting pot. Multi-culturalism doesn’t work - look at old Europe - that’s where we are heading.

Well maybe they’re going back because they’ve found out pirating has suddenly become so lucrative in the old homeland. Seems to be a growth industry and the risks are next to non-exsistant. Heck, hasn’t been a single navy in all the world that has lifted a finger to stop them.
