After an awful week in the stock market, Team Obama sent its acolytes out to the Sunday morning shows to let everyone know that the president-elects campaign promise to impose tax increases on higher-income earners as quickly as possible probably wont kick in until at least 2011.
By doing so, Obama and his inner circle finally, if only tacitly, acknowledged what they had refused to recognize during the presidential campaign, namely that economic expectations matter in the here and now.
The recession, once it becomes official, will richly deserve designation as the POR (Pelosi-Obama-Reid) recession....

I am so proud of of GOP Leaders such as President Bush and John McCain who put their feet down to stop the Trillion Dollar Socialist Bail Out of the banks and Wall Street.
Wishful thinking. At the moment, liberals write history. So more likely it will be known as the Great Republican Depression, and Bush will be blamed for it, just like Herbert Hoover.
Well, we’ve been pretty tight fisted with expenditures since we anticipate a tax increase. We’re not eating out, just not buying. (key to not buying, don’t go shopping, LOL) We’re not being Scrooges for Christmas, but we’re not overspending, that’s for sure. My husband and son want new spearguns (which they probably would have bought already if it weren’t for Obama’s tax threats)...instead, we decided to put the purchases off and make it their Christmas present.
I know other folks that are living that same way...not buying what they absolutely don’t have to have, or putting off purchases in order to make them a Christmas present.
Anyone remember the “talking down the economy” accusations the clintonistas hurled at Bush?
I have not watched any news since Nov. 4th. - the orgasmic reaction of the FOX talking heads to the Obama victory was the last straw.
This morning, however, I switched on the local news because of the storms currently hitting So.Cal. One of the anchors (Steve somebody on FOX) announced that "Barrack" would be holding another presser to day.
"Barrack" already. Could you imagine him saying "George" will be .......
These people make me sick.
What I have been doing these past few years is do survey’s online for points. I’m getting 2 $50 Walmart gift cards, $25 Mastercard, $25 check & $40 in Paypal. These will pay for most of my Christmas presents plus a few extra’s. Other than that its the Eagles on Mondays for $ day. LOL
Get over it.
The economy was wrecked under George Bush’s watch.
George Bush is still the president. It is a testament to his incompetence that no one consults him on the financial crisis.
Bush handed over the leadership of America to Hank Paulson in September. Hank Paulson now rules America and Hank Paulson doesn’t really have a clue about what to do.
The American people understand that, and that is why the Republicans were voted out.
Say what you may about Obama, but he is showing leadership. George Bush is not. Bush is floundering. Bush is a Republican and Americans can see through Republican incompetence.
Conservatives need constructive answers to the most vexing problems of our day, not endless and POINTLESS negativism.
Conservatives have no real answers for the serious problems like healthcare. The age of ideology has passed. The American people want pragmatic leadership - not time-worn cliches carried over from the Reagan era (on small government and tax cuts without a serious thought on how to shrink the deficit and make government more effective).
If we continue on this self destructive path - Obama will get eight years and Hillary will get another eight.
Thanks for enlighten us and just think you waited until 22Oct2008 to share your knowledge:-))))
Please return to DU and the rest of the Marxist pukes.
Sorry. That wasn’t meant for you.
The Obamafuehrer has yet to prove that he is even eligible to be POTUS.
Why don’t you enlighten us as to where Obama’s “showing leadership”? You think putting us in debt for another $700 billion is showing leadership?
Welcome to FR with your Bush kicking and Obama praise. Funny thing is the market slipped with any news of Obama leads in October, but truly tanked after his election. If it is Bush’s fault why the timing mentioned.
By the way exactly what is Obama doing other than talk and appointing the former Clinton staffers?? All the I see missing is Arthur Anderson Accountants to cook the books again to make all look rosy!
