People are surmising that it is probably Lashkar-e-Toiba, which is “closely linked to the Inter-Services Intelligence, the Taliban and al Qaeda.”

Stratfor link at #712 refers to claim that boats used by the terrorists are registered in Pakistan.... don’t know if this is well confirmed yet or just an allegation.
Is anyone a Stratfor member who can determine whether they are providing good info or just hype? I would consider joining Stratfor if they really have first-rate info but I just don’t know how good their sources are....
I have no special expertise, but I assume most of the organized terrorist groups have at least informal links to each other.
And there’s every reason to believe that many of them also have sympathizers within Pakistan’s ISI.
That’s still far short of saying that this attack was approved by the Pakistani government. They haven’t even conquered their own freaking country, much less made sure that their intelligence agency has no rogues.
All I’m suggesting is that today’s attacks would serve no purpose in general Pakistani foreign policy. Especially the part about primarily targeting westerners in India.
Let’s wait to see who is behind it. I’ve seen reports that 10 terrorists have been captured. Those guys are in separate rooms and not being fed caviar. I doubt the Indians are in any kind of a mood to show much mercy at this point.
We’ll know before long.
