I took Deepak Chopra's measure years ago when he was commenting on the Roman Polanski case, when Polanski was up for an Oscar.

Polanski was, and still is, in exile, in France after fleeing the country when he raped a thirteen year old girl after doping her.

Chopra thought enough time had passed for Polanski to be "forgiven" by all.

No words of sympathy for the victim, no sense that such crimes are beyond the pale.
