Gee, I just saw that Russia’s economics were in far worse shape than ours. That if you believe what you read.

Wishful thinking on the prof part, imo.

I read a longer version of this article elsewhere, and I thought it was an amazing display of ignorance of American culture and history. If this guy is a professor, maybe their educational system is falling apart more quickly than our own.

I don't think that this nation will fall either but it is not impossible. We need to remember that the USSR dissolved rather quickly and without our nation or the Soviet's really understanding what was coming. Basically the soviets went bankrupt and half of their nation just kind of walked away and there was nothing that the old USSR could do to stop them.
The biggest threat to our nation is going broke while having high unemployment of highly educated workers and then having the feds make a grab for our guns. Effective revolts and revolutions are almost always led by highly educated unemployed people. The common man may fight these wars but they do not lead or inspire them. If all those things come about at the same time things are going to get very messy very quickly. I know for sure that Texas retained the right to leave the USA under certain conditions when they were accepted as a state. If the economy is going to hell and socialism is initiated forcefully Obama style Texas can legally and just might take that option if pushed on personal rights and the gun issue at the same time. If Texas leads the way many states may try to follow. Having served a many years in the military and having close relatives serving today I can make another prediction with a high degree of certainty. The vast majority of our military members are very conservative and they will not pull the trigger on their own countrymen if a revolt starts. If pushed to do so many will take their weapons and training with them to the other side. With the right situation this could all come apart very rapidly.
