Actually, you have it backwards. In general, it’s the blue states that support the red via taxes and gubmint spending. The Tax Foundation has done a detailed study of this.

But it is the red states who have the vast majority of natural resources. Most power lines at least cross the red parts of this country. The water our cities drink also transverses the red states and counties. The food the cities need to survive does not originate in blue areas either. All the folks in the red areas have to do is interrupt these commodities, blockade the city folks in and sit back and wait.
In a serious altercation the blue areas of this nation would be SOL in about 4 days. Can you imagine what life would be like after only a few days with no food, water, power, and sewer in San Francisco, Los Angles, or NYC????? The vast majority of the citizens in those red areas are also well armed. Things would not go well for the socialists in the blue cities.

You have a problem working everything out on a taxation basis. You can't eat that tax data and you can't drink it either. The international currency of survival is food and fresh water. If things coma apart those who have it will be wealthy/powerful and will call the shots.
Taxes in this country is all about social programs for the cities and distribution paper that will become useless and worthless.
