Connie Mathews has been fired from her job at the Memphis Public Library, city officials said today.
Mathews, mother of two children by former state senator John Ford, falsified information on her application, according to an official statement from city spokesman Toni Holmon-Turner.
It has come to the attention of the City of Memphis administration that Ms. Connie Mathews falsified information contained in her employment application for the Memphis Public Library. Therefore, Ms. Mathews employment with the City of Memphis will cease immediately.
Mathews was hired as an assistant library cataloger at the Memphis Public Library and Information Center. She began her $28,580-a-year job Nov. 10.

What could you possibly lie about that would get you a job that only paid $28K? I mean, if you were gunning for a $200K job I could see some creative resume-enhancement, but for $28k?
This only makes sense if she was a ghost payroller.
Her application averaged 5 mispelled words per phrase. I do not say sentence, because she seemed unable to write one.
I believe they left off the leading 1 on that salary.
The radio reports mentioned the $100k+ salary.
There’s no way an assistant cataloger’s salary would be 100K+ $28,000 sounds accurate for a beginning assistant cataloger who would be learning on the job.
i guess this is important to someone.
The Fords are important to Memphis and to anyone anywhere interested in political corruption on the grand scale. Look them up. It’s pretty much astonishing reading.
She was the head librarian of the system...
In our experience such politically forced hires resent it if you expect them to actually show up for work and do something.
The article says she was an assistant cataloger at the $28,000 per year salary until the false statements on her application were discovered.
