Forget the Republican filibuster and the race to 60. The real fight in the next Congress is Democrats vs. themselves.
With nearly complete control of Washington for the first time in three decades, Democrats are entering a treacherous power zone in which many of their priorities could easily be undone by the geographic, demographic and ideological factions that compete for supremacy within the party.
Unless Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) can whip their caucuses into unity, numerous fault lines will be revealed: Southern Democrats vs. Northern liberals on labor law; California greens vs. Rust Belt Democrats on global warming; socialized medicine adherents vs. go-slow health care reformers; anti-war liberals vs. cautious centrists on national security. And dont forget the anti-bailout crowd vs. the powerful Michigan Democrats in both chambers when it comes to money for Detroit.
Republicans insist they will fight for their issues when they can, but they also might simply take a front-row seat to see if Democrats implode.

Yes, somehow that reply is what I would expect.
Such as is found in grade school.
You just nailed the problem. The GOP needs new leaders desperately.
I saw some clips of McCain today on Fox News. The clips were from today. I was floored by how old McCain looks. He should be chasing teenagers off of his lawn. Like Dole in '96, this year was "his turn". The Republicans have to stop slitting their own throats.
It was absolutely no shock to me that McCain lost, nor was it surprising that Obama won. Two years ago on this board I was laughing at Hannity and his "Stop Hillary Express" because Obama looked like a dangerous "dark horse" (no pun) candidate and I believed that Hillary Clinton was totally unelectable. (Heck, even the Democrats didn't want her.)

Republicans fight for their issues-like Amnesty and the Bailout?
You would know.
I'll give you the last word--since you are bound and determined to take it anyway.
And that is all you had to say, instead of making an issue of his use of 'we'.
It was petty.
LH, I couldn't agree with you more. There is so much truth in your post #62, that it is worth repeating.
I especially like the comment about McCain and chasing teenagers off his lawn. That gave me my first laugh of the day!
I don't have all the answers. For now, I'll work to keep Obama and the Demons accountable.
I enjoyed your candor. Happy Thanksgiving.
Some people just like to strain at gnats.
Thank you, FRiend.
BTW, great quote in your tag line.
May we always be such a people, and this O-worship be a momentary aberration.
Happy Thanksgiving.
We have a lot to be thankful for, we still live in the greatest nation on Earth.
Thanks.
