The 72-year-old presiding elder of a breakaway polygamist Mormon sect and two other church members surrendered to Schleicher County authorities on Monday to face felony charges relating to the underage marriage of girls to older men.

Fredrick Merril Jessop, a leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, faces one count of conducting an unlawful marriage ceremony involving a minor, a felony.

According to authorities, one of his daughters was married to jailed sect leader Warren Jeffs at age 12 and is now the only child from the Yearning For Zion Ranch in foster care after her mother refused to cooperate with child welfare authorities.

Are you a slave to your husband?

That is very silly & none of your business to ask anyone that IMHO. Why don't we stay on the subject of the FLDS & why minor girls were married off. Lets leave the personal babble out of this now. Or is it an issue for you to know what goes in normal people's lives?

He married me. He didn’t buy me or trade for me, unlike others in this country have done with their women.

I entered in the relationship of my own free will and if I leave, it will be of my own free will.

Something those women and children had no concept of.

I, for one, would be grateful for someone who cared enough to rescue me from a life of sexual abuse and had the wherewithal to stand up to a bunch of deranged pedophiles.

BTW, your say so about the accusations about the actions of CPS and the government are not a source. Please provide links to the documents. It falls to the person making the statements to back them up themselves.

Please provide links to the aforementioned accusations.

Please provide links to the lawsuits filed against CPS for the alleged misconduct.

Considering the controversy surrounding this whole thing, if they had really done that, I would have expected the stuff to hit the fan long ago, and I haven’t heard anything about it.

All the news I keep hearing is the indictments against the men in this cult which supports the raid in the first place.

Looks like CPS and the state of Texas were right.

Imagine that......

The investigations go on...... Yesterday they had a confontation with a mother over the where abouts of her five month old child. It maybe that this child if the result of an underage marriage.

From the article:
The girl gave birth to her child June 14, just 10 days after CPS returned the last of 439 children taken from the YFZ Ranch northeast of Eldorado in April to their parents.

CPS had alleged a pervasive pattern of sexual abuse and forced “marriages” among members of the sect, which still practices a form of polygamy intended to be acceptable to society. Walther ruled in favor of CPS. Higher courts overruled Walther, requiring the children’s return.

A CPS motion filed this month alleged the girl was married to an older man at age 14.

Those women (other than the fact that many were young) were duped into a religion that IMO, borders on Sharia and in turn followed a false prophet.

I agree. All religions dupe young people.

CPS is, no doubt, not equipped to handle such lunacy. That we can agree on.

Yes, I agree.

How you like it if you daddy and momma gave you to your Uncle or grandfather? That is the question that must be answered.

I would probably be an orphan in that case.

That was metmoms point. She is trying to claim that the women and children are essentially chattel. Argue with her, not me. I was simply illustrating the idiocy of her point with the question.

Ahh, a distinction without a difference.

I entered in the relationship of my own free will and if I leave, it will be of my own free will.

What I have seen of the FLDS marriages is the same. I have yet to see where the FLDS hold the women with chains.

I, for one, would be grateful for someone who cared enough to rescue me from a life of sexual abuse and had the wherewithal to stand up to a bunch of deranged pedophiles.

Give me your name and address and I will send out a sheriff to arrest your husband : )

Haven't you been following these threads? It has been documented many times that adult women were classified as minors and held against their will.

Do you really need me to look up the Texas Supreme Court decision for you? Why do you think that the CPS had to let the Women and children go? Do you think that the CPS just decided to let them go on their own? LOL

Looks like CPS and the state of Texas were right.

If the CPS and State of Texas were right, why did they have to release the Women and Children?

I happen to agree with metmom. I think the men of FLDS don’t treat women & children as do normal men do.

LOL What is 'normal?' I happen to think that most religions don't treat women properly. Heck, out country treated women worse than slaves for longer than we had slaves. Slaves could vote before women could.

Says the CPS. They examined everyone that they took for sexual abuse. That involves stripping, taking photographs and physical penetration of all the girls and women.

Source please.

You got that one right. Those FLDS women and children WERE and ARE chattel.

Traded like property, no rights of their own, can't come and go as they please- they have to make midnight escapes if they want out, threatened with eternal damnation if they don't kowtow to their masters perverted demands.

Yup, sounds like chattel and slavery to me.

You're getting it.

Some people never provide sources. We’re just expected to buy everything they spew hook, line, and sinker. Just because they said so. Or maybe just because....

Sorry, not buying it without documentation.

Well, there is one poster that made that claim over and over again but never provided proof.

I guess it’s one of those things that if you repeat it often enough, people believe and it becomes the ‘truth’.

Anyway, it’s interesting that the bigwigs have finally surrendered to the law.

“Which baby was taken from it’s mother? I don’t recall any of those accusations ever being substantiated.”

Are you kidding?

Source? I recall that some of the babies were in protective custody WITH their mothers.

It doesn’t become truth to me, no matter how many times someone says something. If there’s no documentation provided, anyone in that position is just wasting oxygen.

That the bigwigs surrendered verifies what we knew to be true all along; that child abuse and sexual slavery was going on and they were guilty.

I’m constantly amazed at the number of people who would abandon innocent children to that kind of lifestyle not to mention the physical and psychological abuse.
