I would hope that Palin would stay away from the Oprahs and Lettermans of this world until the next election cycle. Such appearance would only bring celebrity and would actually undermine the public’s perception of her.

Now is the time for any serious contender to comment on substantial issues that are ongoing and that Obama will be dealing with. This kind of strategy would be an opportunity for her to show her depth of knowledge and ideas on the issues, and make her a very competitive candidate for 2012 and beyond.

Now if this was her last run, and she’s already decided that from her 08 experience- might as well go out and sell some books.

I agree, I don't think this is the best use of her time if she has any idea of running, and it's going to cheapen her. This would be a good time to brush up on national policy and the finer points of national government, because-don't get me wrong, I think she's great and could make a strong candidate if she takes it seriously and knuckles down to acquiring that command of the debates and that "gravitas" she needs to balance the folksiness. Reagan (I know, we're supposed to just "get over" him, but he's still the most successful conservative politician of modern times) had both. Down-home slogans aren't going to cut it if she runs at the top of the ticket.
