As a forum member who yearly participates in these JFK Assassination threads whenever mid-November comes around, I don’t let absurdity go unchallenged. I simply cannot allow those conspiracists who haven’t even got the base facts or logical understanding of the murder of an American president to declare unexamined and irrational beliefs as evidence of conspiracy and get away without being challenged.

OK, if she was not retrieving a skull fragment, what *was* she retrieving? A ham sandwich?

You, and all other conspiracy believers need to watch the great documentary about the assassination in post 75.

If you’re interested in all you should really watch it.

All the time I see people asking questions that have been explained 100 times, all of the information is available, it’s the most investigated murder in history.

How come he didn't take the shot/shots when the motorcade turned onto N Houston? It would have been a direct “fish in a barrel” shot as Kennedy rolled towards him.

Good question. There are a few reasons. One, he would have been seen, that would have started all kinds of activity, even before he took a shot. Second, Oswald needed to escape. Shots from the TSBD as the car came down N. Houston would not have enabled him to do so. Too many people would see him and been able to identify him.

Remember, he got on a bus for home after the shooting, grabbed a light jacket and a revolver and was walking away when confronted by Officer J.D. Tippit. Panicked he shot Tippit, ran to the Texas Theater, was seen by at least a dozen witnesses, and was not know to be the one missing from the TSBD.

Had Oswald kept his head, he might not have been caught that quickly and most likely would be in prison today, instead of dead.

Where's the evidence that Jackie was retrieving anything at all?

A senior CIA official while slightly inebriated one night made the following statement while looking off in the distance: “I wonder how the American people would take it if they knew one president had another president killed”. One knew to just listen and not ask any questions..but there was only one president killed in modern times..

Oh? How about these two being referred to: Kennedy and Diem.

From Mrs. Kennedy's own testimony...

Mr. Rankin. Did he turn toward you?

Mrs. Kennedy. No; I was looking this way, to the left, and I heard these terrible noises. You know. And my husband never made any sound. So I turned to the right. And all I remember is seeing my husband, he had this sort of quizzical look on his face, and his hand was up, it must have been his left hand. And just as I turned and looked at him, I could see a piece of his skull and I remember it was flesh colored. I remember thinking he just looked as if he had a slight headache. And I just remember seeing that. No blood or anything. And then he sort of did this [indicating], put his hand to his forehead and fell in my lap. And then I just remember falling on him and saying, "Oh, no, no, no," I mean, "Oh, my God, they have shot my husband." And "I love you, Jack," I remember I was shouting. And just being down in the car with his head in my lap. And it just seemed an eternity. You know, then, there were pictures later on of me climbing out the back. But I don't remember that at all.

Mr. Rankin. Do you remember Mr. Hill coming to try to help on the car?

Mrs. Kennedy. I don't remember anything. I was just down like that. And finally I remember a voice behind me, or something, and then I remember the people in the front seat, or somebody, finally knew something was wrong, and a voice yelling, which must have been Mr. Hill, "Get to the hospital,"or maybe it was Mr. Kellerman, in the front seat. But someone yelling. I was just down and holding him.

One thing I could never figure out about Oswald. He is always touted as an “expert marksman”, could have made the shots from his perch at the schoolbook depository etc. How come he didn't take the shot/shots when the motorcade turned onto N Houston? It would have been a direct “fish in a barrel” shot as Kennedy rolled towards him.

The JFK RELOADED "game" made this clear. When he makes the turn, the target is moving more than when he is slowly heading away. If the game were still active, i would post the shots. I tried it both ways (basically, in the game, you are Oswald), and it was way easier when they were heading away from TSBD.

I heard that one motorcycle cop coming up from behind the limo was splattered so hard that he thought he had been hit. Off hand, I don’t know how to verify that. I haven’t really studied this case for quite some time, but I found it very fascinating back when I was more interested in it.

I haven’t followed this entire thread, but I hope everyone here is aware that Bugliosi is a stark-raving looney-tune who wants to try Bush for war crimes or some such baloney. The guy is an embarrassment to himself and anyone who took his book on the JFK assassination seriously.

"... But she did go out on to the trunk lid of the Lincoln. As I posted later, nobody knows exactly why."

Except for YOU, who uses this false logic to demonstrate that because Jackie climbed on the trunk to retrieve JFK's skull fragment, a shot therefore came from the front.

... Now you say that no-one knows why she did it.

Get out of here and do some real research, please.

As someone who was old enough to remember that day, and someone who has visited the museum at the Texas Book Depository and seen the actual area Oswald had set up as the sniper perch ... the best shot he had was the one he took. He was hidden in a corner with boxes of books stacked around him ... the angle he had kept him from being detected from the street. A front on shot would have meant high exposure for the sniper.
I'm also a former Marine who qualified as rifle expert at the range. Oswald qualified as a marksman the lowest catagory, the next is sharpshooter then expert.

Planning for the motorcade was on Nov 8th. Printing of the route was on the 19th. All the maps talk show the path of the vehicle, but few show the turn at Houston to Elm.

Oswald wanted to impress Marina. He had taken the shot at Edwin Walker to do so and missed. Now he had another chance with Kennedy, and he took it.

The JFK murder is not about Kennedy, it's about Oswald and how he did it. Had he killed Walker he most likely would have been in jail instead of at the TSBD.

She climbed back onto the trunk, reached out for something, then climbed back in the car. What do you think she was doing? Polishing a smudge on the trunk? Think.

One note:

Oswald qualified in USMC basic training as 'Sharpshooter' with a score of 216. He was two points from 'Expert'. Later, in the fleet he shoot pizza box then went Unq.

Oswald's boot camp marksmanship score places him ahead of 99% of the American shooting public.

Jackie’s action immediately following the head shot is just one of many pieces of circumstantial evidence that indicate a shot from the front. I tried to summarize the situation at

Check it out.
