Some national media types are trying to make it sound like the Coleman-Franken recount sound like Florida 2000. Its time to deflate that myth. The minute that public hears that someone has to determine voter intent, they first flash back to Floridas butterfly ballots, then think of the punch cards ballots.
While its natural to do that, that isnt the case. In Florida 2000, people were debating voter intent based on the chad family (dimpled, pregnant or hanging.) Minnesotas ballots are extremely straightforward. When determining voter intent, heres some things to look for:
1) Did the voter fill in the oval?
2) Did the voter put a check mark inside the oval?
3) Did the voter put an X inside the oval?
4) Did the voter underline the candidates name?
5) Did the voter circle the candidates name?
6) Did the voter fill in more than one oval? If they did, then voter intent cant be determined.
Minnesota election law stipulates that voter intent can only be determined by whats marked on the ballots face. If people havent underlined or circled the candidates name, then they have to have either filled in the oval, put a check mark in the oval or put an X inside the oval. Those are extremely objective benchmarks. They arent subjective by any stretch of the imagination.
The election officials that Ive worked with have been courteous and professional. The methods they use are consistent, logical and straightforward. Now that Ive worked within the system, its my opinion that the administrative side is flawless.

Yes it is kind of depressing so many people would vote for that jerk.
But remember a couple of things, Minn is a heavily democratic state and there is the snowball effect in this election. Republicans were going to lose this time and not much could be done about that and it threw votes to Franken he would not normally get.
My gut fel about this jerk is that this is his one and only opportunity and the voters wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole in future elections.
Let's just hope we get this one close and Franken goes somewhere else out of the limelight.
“Facts don’t back you up, but go ahead and live in your depressing little world but it is so far from realistic as to be laughable. “
What facts.
“I also disagree with your statement ath the only way to win is by double-digits. We need to modernize the party. Voting right isnt enough anymore. We need people that know policy cold. We need people that consistently articulate the conservative message in appealing way. We need to use 21st”
True.
I just ahve been pretty depressed since the election - I enve have trouble sleeping - thinking about Obama in the White House and Pelosi and Reed running Congress.
Its very depressing.
Wow! I hope you don''t believe in the Tooth Fairy too! There's no way that *anyone* can be positive that that won't happen.Federal judges are appointed for life. They see themselves as the Duke of a small fiefdom. They can take any case that's presented to them.Yes,they might be overruled by a higher court but they don't care.I'll wager every nickel I have that Frankenstein takes this case to the Federal courts if he winds up losing the recount and I wouldn't bet a *single* nickel that his effort will fail...
Who is watching the RAT operatives involved in the recount to prevent them from double marking Coleman ballots to invalidate them?
I just did the digging into Minnesota state election law mandates for elction-related lawsuits. Here’s the link to my post:

They lack jurisdiction. PERIOD. The US Supreme Court would shoot any attempt to usurp the state’s authority.
If a voter puts a circle around Franken and a check in Coleman, who is the lucky winner?
