Off topic but did you see that the NYT's got dupped inton running a letter from the Mayor of Paris, claiming Caroline Kennedy was not qualifies to run for the senate seat in NY.

Surprise, they had to run an apology today. Seems after they got the letter they failed to check to see if he actually wrote the letter before publishing it.

I did. Their kids are dual citizens of France and the US. The mom does not have diplomatic immunity, and neither do the kids. The dad told me there are several people working at the embassy who are in a similar situation- they’re diplomats who married Americans and their kids are dual citizens. From what he told me, to get diplomatic immunity in the US his wife and kids would have to renounce their US citizenship, which nobody in the family wants to do.

He says he never really gave any thought to the issue of diplomatic immunity for his wife or kids. As a (non-spy) diplomat for a friendly Western country, diplomatic immunity doesn’t really make much of a difference in his life.
