A friend of my sister and bro-in-law worked at the GM Tech Center for a company that contracted with them. He lost his job about 2 years ago I guess and has worked a couple small jobs here and there. Then he found work in North Carolina in his field so he went down there and left the family here. The job finally ended so he came home. Then recently they contacted him again and offered him a permanent job. He had to turn it down because it wouldn't have been financially feasible for him to move back down there and live while leaving his family here and there is no way he could sell his house here and buy down there. Plus, there wasn't any guarantee that the job would last last for any substantial lengeth of time.

It would be terrible to sell the house here at a huge loss, move down there and buy a house then lose the job again and be stuck down south. Wayne is 62 or 63 years old........

People don’t get it.

My hubby says the same thing. If we move, what guarantees us that we will have a job in a year?

Living elsewhere is not going to be too hard for us. We’ve got a Hybrid Trailer so our rent will be minimal. I’m going to get a Pod and put the belongings in there. But people think that this is all just cake. It’s not. And it’s not a few people here. It’s many of us.

Bet they’ll all be happy as clams to have us invade on their state. Lots of Michiganders are going to suck their states dry when we can’t find work. I’m not, but many will.
They need to watch out for what they wish for.

US Army is closing Ft Monmouth NJ and moving it to Aberdeen Proving Ground MD as part of its Base Realignment. About 2/3 of the Ft Monmouth workforce will retire, thus over 2500 slots need to be filled in Aberdeen Proving Ground. They are looking for college degree engineers, software engineers and computer engineers. Check the DoD job announcements for Aberdeen Proving Ground.
