NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hundreds of people lined up at some Verizon Wireless stores on Friday to buy the BlackBerry Storm, the first touch-screen phone from Research In Motion that aims to compete with Apple's iPhone .
More than 200 people had waited at a Verizon store in mid-town Manhattan early in the morning, many of whom were turned away after it ran out of the new phones less than an hour after opening at 8 a.m. The angry customers caused a ruckus and police came to restore order.

I remember my parent's stories about the Great Depression, bread lines, etc. Oh sure they had it tough, but having to wait for hours for a cellphone? Now I know we are in an economic crises! GOOD GRIEF!!!

Yo, Barack.
I want mine delivered to my door.
After all, didn’t “change” and “hope” include, in addition to such things as freedom from nuisances like housing and food expenses, FREE Plasma TVs and cellphones?

Right after the '29 crash, the talk in the press was the crash affected Wall Street, not Main Street.
Main Street caught up.

What the hell is this? When you're sold out, you're sold out.
This is the manifestation of an entitlement society - spoiled children all wanting instant gratification or else. Kind of like the infantile "no justice, no peace" initiative of the left.

Oh yeah, the breadline stories were all over the local news last night here in the Bay Area. Oh woe are we! We don’t have enough food to feed the hungry masses! Not enough donations coming in! (come on people, start spreading the wealth, drop off those food donations).

We did that after a hurricane, years back. Ice wasn't free and considered a luxury during a hot Texas summer. We lined up , with our dollar waiting on the grocery store parking lot for the ice truck. I never noticed any problems though.

If anyone gets one I’d be interested in hearing about it. I am in the market for a new BB. My biggest priorities are 1) ease of making and receiving phone calls 2) ease of sending and receiving text.
The Treo had all kinds of great features but if I received an incoming call in the middle of taking a picture or watching a video the thing would lock up. So one day I tossed it out the window of my car in anger as I was trying to make an urgent call and the damn thing locked up and rebooted. After all it’s first and foremost a phone and the Blackberry has served me well in that regard.
Let me know what y’all think of it if you get one.

These guys don’t have a clue. They’ve never experienced any kind of deprivation in their lives.
The worst won’t hit probably until around 2012.

Funny. I’ve never had any major problems with the Treo, either running Palm or Windows Mobile.

I think we are supposed to turn those in to Obama. You will only get half of it back though. The other half will go to people that don't drive.

Actually, I have to say that I’ve been pretty happy with Verizon. I had a question that I submitted via email, and they got back to me the next day with an answer that was actually informative and to the point.
Also, their network is very good.
That said, I’ll probably go elsewhere if they don’t offer a decent Android phone similar to the HTC G1.
