10,000 Britons die needlessly every year as GPs with out-of-date training miss vital cancer symptoms

More than 10,000 people die needlessly each year because their cancers are not diagnosed in time, a study says.

The charity Cancer Research UK found GPs too often miss symptoms or do not send enough patients for tests.

In some cases their training is simply out of date. The report says some people are deterred from seeking treatment by the difficulty of getting an appointment.

And there is too little public awareness about cancer symptoms, meaning many victims do not see their GP until it is too late to save their lives. The result is that Britain's survival rates for cancer are still the worst in Western Europe, despite the billions poured into the Health Service by Labour.

Only 53 per cent of women and 42 per cent of men with cancer survive for more than five years.

What difference does it make if their cancers are diagnosed in time, if National Health refuses treatment?

I know! Let’s install a system like that in this country! Won’t that be great?

Oh well, they were just useless eaters anyway. Their deaths, through painful for their families, have high utility for the collective and are justified for the social good.

Why would you expect a country who's healthcare system cannot prevent tooth decay to be able to diagnose and treat cancer?

Besides, all the good Docs. come here to make money or go back to their home country's after receiving training in England. It's a crisis that is as much about a shortage of good care providers, due to lack of incentive $$, as it is about funding.

“Oh well, they were just useless eaters anyway.”

Yeah, you know we’re just “human” capital to these elitists in Washington.

This article proves if Kennedy were in a socialized health care system (like that would ever happen), he’d have died.

They don’t care about the people, they simply want power over one of the last outstanding products of our country! It sickens me—not that it could not use some tweaking—like getting the state and federal governments out of mandating what types of coverage the consumer must purchase, regardless of age, etc...No wonder costs are so high! If you don’t want mental health coverage why should there be a government mandate that forces you to have it.

Most people would simply prefer preventative and catastrophic coverage, but that is not available. Why??? Because the libs won’t pass it! They simply want more control over our lives and our choices!

Natural triage. I read an article in the Telegraph about a month ago, GP’s are given a bonus for NOT referring patients to hospitals or specialists. All the old farts ( I’m 57) who voted for obamacare better get used to the idea of a very limited consideration when they get sick. Hey but it’s for the children.

Hey, it’s cost effective! That’s all that counts in government health care.

Lord High Commissioner of Death...Heh, heh, heh [gleefully rubs hands together] Our master plan is working. Look at all the money we are saving by letting them die.

I’m sure old fatbag Kennedy made a special trip to Cuba for his brain tumor, to that wonderful socialized care he craves.

I was talking to an Obama supporter yesterday who wanted universal healthcare and I told him about the woman who sat next to my daughter when she went for her mammogram.

The woman had a lump but the ultrasound was ok so she didn’t qualify for a mammogram. Both her mom and sister had breast cancer. She flew to the U.S. to get her mammogram.

So I asked this guy, where will you go when we no longer have the best healthcare in the world. At first, he tried talking points about the people who don’t have it but I interrupted and asked, “no, where will you go?” until he finally said that wasn’t what he wanted. Mumbled there must be an answer and walked off.
