Since when did it matter how long Mommy or Daddy lived in the US for a child to be “Natural Born?” We have numerous court decisions affirming the “anchor baby” concept.

If Mommy’s here long enough to squat and splat, the baby’s a US citizen.

The issue here is if Obama was born outside the country. That's when the rule of where mom, a US citizen, resided for how long comes into play.

By the way, that leads to yet another issue. States can issue birth certificates to children born outside of the US when the family comes back into the country. That's why the actual details of the birth certificate are so important. A certificate of live birth is different and would be required in this case as I understand it. He would not have qualified as “natural born” if he was born outside the country because of his parents status at the time even though he may have been issued a birth certificate when he entered the country.
