If we want to be a governing party we need to be mainstream. To be mainstream we can’t let this be the face of the party, or look to be in a position of any kind of influence within the party.
We have a lot of work to do and this is little more than masturbatory feel good crap that distracts us and makes the job harder for those of us in the real world trying to elect conservatives.

So, in your opinion, Repubs need to be “mainstream” - meaning, I assume, approved of by the mainstream media - to win. IOW, Repubs need to become Democrat-lite. Well, that’s exactly what McCain was, and see what good that did the party. And even then, the MSM still drooled over Obama and vilified McCain.
