I think they were sentenced to 3 months in jail, after already being jailed for 3 months. Normal sentencing is one year. Apparently, the woman is in a deep depression, suffering from serious anxiety. I can’t blame her, she goes on vacation with her boyfriend, lays down on the beach, shares a smooch, next thing she’s in prison in a foreign country probably being convinced she’s filth.
But, any form of public affection is not permitted, including holding hands, even when married. Looks like an exotic place, but I’ll visit a place where I don’t have to worry about normal western behavior.
There are various accounts on the British couple but the common reports are that they were drunk, nude, and previously warned not to continue their actions before they were arrested. She should be depressed, you should have seen the slob she was caught with.
My wife and I have never been arrested or even confronted when we kissed at airports, softball fields, or hotels. Nor have we ever had any problems holding hands in the Middle East including many occasions visiting Bahrain or Dubai.
