Internet-based match-maker, eHarmony has settled a lawsuit commenced against it by Eric McKinley of New Jersey. Mr. McKinley claimed that he was being discrimninated against because eHarmony does not provide gay matchmaking services.
As part of the settlement, in early 2009, eHarmony will provide services for "men seeking men" and "women seeking women" all using its proprietary technology.
...As part of the settlement, eHarmony, Inc. will provide a free, one-year membership to Eric McKinley . . . . [and will] pay McKinley $5,000, .... and the Division on Civil Rights $50,000 to cover investigation-related administrative costs.

I am going to sue Burger King for not making Big Macs. I want a Big Mac, but I want to be able to get one at the local Burger King. Similar reasoning IMHO.
The people who started this website used to work at Focus on the Family and yes, it’s supposed to be a christian-based website. I can’t believe they’d give in to this. I can’t believe that a private company would be forced to condone a mental illness.
eHomo-ny?
I wish eHarmony had taken this to the Supreme Court.
Maybe eHarmony can deal with this by creating a very user-unfriendly site with poor/no customer service, links that just show an Error page, etc. Oh, and pics of really, really ugly “couples”.
I’ve recommended this before on a couple of other threads, but it’s imperative to listen to John MacArthur’s sermon, “A Nation Abandoned by God.” Google the title, and you’ll find a site to either download a podcast or listen online. The sermon was from the 2007 National Day of Prayer. Every Christian should listen to it and then get on their knees.
“Sorry Rocco, we can’t find a good match for you with our women but, if you can keep an open mind, there is somebody who would like to me you.”
This, I think, is a very important point. eHarmony is based on years of research of long lasting marriages. By definition, in the US, those are going to be heterosexual. A gay version of eHarmony just wouldn't work; nobody knows what characteristics make a same sex marriage last in the US. A gay eHarmony will be nothing more than an overpriced Yahoo Personals.
Good point!
Ewe too, Brutus? ;)
Hey, that's not a knife!
