...never again make the fatal mistake that our party has been making in thinking the general public is smart enough to figure it out on their own.

This is key. I am baffled by why anyone would vote for anyone as bad as the P-E, but if you talk to them you realize how incredibly stupid and unread and utterly unthinking his people in general are.

They are susceptible to any kind of propaganda, and incapable of analyzing it and rejecting it.

The GOP should start a PR campaign that starts from the absolute ground up. Teach people what freedom is, what the Constitution is, how freedom erodes if not supported by an educated, thinking, active electorate.

The Gipper did this, TR did this, Washington did this. All good presidents did this. All good professions, institutions, schools, teachers, etc. do this.

Ongoing education from the ground up.

Notice how the above POTUSES have a bunch of memorable quotes immediately associated with them... whereas Clinton, after eight years in office, has none. We need to teach conservatism to people in the same way.

I saw the floating turds on MSNBC jubilating about this, and thought it might actually be something until I read that it’s just a complaint from some disgruntled nut who’s a known troublemaker.

It would be a good thing if the price of oil went up some so Mr. Henning could go back to work as an “environmental coordinator on the North Slope”. He needs to get a life and stop meddling in things he, clearly, doesn’t understand! (It’s hard for me to imagine an “environmental coordinator” as a “fiscal conservative”. Normally, the two are mutually exclusive.)

Most solid citizens would be pleased if their state, through their governor, was getting some, usually coveted, publicity.

Sorry, I’m joining the thread late, consequently I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned the Zogby Poll, wherein questions were asked that would indicate how many Obama voters understood what he, Obama, actually stood for. A whopping 2% was able to answer questions proving they understood his positions on issues, as well as negatives regarding his character, etc. Incredible, isn’t it, just how stupidly uninformed are his “supporters”!

Maybe this is a new tactic of the left to silence their enemies - file lawsuits over imaginary infractions every time a conservative says something.

We might have to end up going Wilhelm Tell on them... ;-)

Plus, it appears from post-election analysis that women went 2-1 for Obama in New Hampshire and North Carolina, spurning Sarah. I don’t know why they would change their minds in four years.

The Obama media basically ran a two month negative campaign commercial on Palin and to a lesser extent McCain.

They proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that negative campaigning works.

I watched a Youtube video where they were interviewing Obama voters after the fact. They didn't know who Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid were, they had no idea about any of Obama's political history or utterances, but they darn well knew that Palin's daughter was pregnant, that she had $150,000 worth of campaign clothes and that she could "see Russia from her house".

MetsJetsandNets, I join the others disagreeing with you about 2012. Barbour might be a credible candidate, and based on his past office with the RNC, he'd probably have a lot of support from the party establishment. Nevertheless, he won't just swat away Palin, who generates a lot more enthusiasm from the base.

What happens when one candidate has the lead in support from the party establishment, while the other has more support from the base? Well, on the Dem side in 2008, Hillary Clinton started off as the front-runner with the most support among Dem electeds. Obama overcame that by mobilizing the party base. I think Palin would do the same thing. The difference is that Clinton had another advantage over Obama, namely name recognition, but in 2012 no one would have dramatically higher name recognition than Palin. Huckabee, Romney, and Gingrich would be about at her level. Barbour would trail.

A lot can happen in four years, but right now Palin must be onsidered one of the principal contenders for 2012.

Until the GOP stops bringing only knives to a gun fight they will keep on losing.
