If the Catholic Church discovers that there are sins other than murder this country will be set right.
Thou shall not covet thy neighbors’ goods(wealth). I have been trying to get Christian leaders and activists to take up this cry. With no success. It’s easy to preach against abortion and homosexuality knowing that you won’t offend your constituents. It is a whole other matter to take a stand against government-mediated coveting. Nearly everyone is getting some kind of handout.
U.S. politics and government at all levels is driven by covetousness. It got Obama elected.

Well put. And the Church is not going to war with the US government. It has long had the opportunity to do so (e.g. Kennedy, Pelosi, et al) and didn’t. It will continue to gripe and complain and do nothing substantial. Mainly because it knows it will lose 50%+ of its US church membership if it really presses the issues raised by the Gospels.

Amen to that. Some people will preach every waking hour to the converted re: abortion while all else sinks into the sea.

Good chance you're right.

The Catholic church has a real leaning toward fiscal socialism.

The Dems took advantage of that in this election and will try it again in '10.

This Catholic problem is why Central America had such a problem with libertarian theology. There is a strong bias against capitalism among Catholics.

Its not that the other sins don’t matter, its the gravest must be dealt with first. What good is wealth if you are dead? More importantly, and this is how I tend to vote,(and why most people I vote for never get in) if you are right on life, your priorities tend to be straight and the other issues would be much closer to straightened out. Its about the priorities, man. Life first, everything else, next.

Yes. There is a reason why coveting neighbors goods is in the Ten Commandments. Collectivism is exatly that.

‘US politics is run by covetousness.’ Let’s amend that — HUMANS will, by default, CHOOSE covetousness. That’s why it is listed in the Big Ten.
