Kirlins say they will only have to cede 15 percent of south Boulder lot.
Two Boulder neighbors have settled an adverse-possession case that made national headlines last year and prompted changes to the state's law, according to a joint statement released Tuesday.
Don and Susie Kirlin, who originally lost 34 percent of one of their vacant south Boulder lots to their neighbors Richard McLean and Edith Stevens, said they had settled a lawsuit and will only cede 15 percent of the lot.
"This settlement allows the parties to put this longstanding and difficult dispute behind them," the couples wrote in the 48-word statement.
The agreement will give McLean and Stevens access to a five-foot strip of the Kirlins' next-door lot, which widens to nine feet at the north end of the property.

“judge” is a title that no longer applies, in many cases.
There are three people in this case that deserve something monstrous happening to them. I won’t say who and I won’t say what, but people can use their imaginations quite successfully. And they probably won’t be wrong.
A sad day for property rights.
Black robes do not make of men gods. That these vermin would twist the legal system to benefit one of their own utterly disgusts me.
Of course, Landsnatching . . . land, land, Land, see Snatch.
Ah, Hailey vs. United Sates. Hailey 7, United States: nothing. You see, it can be done!
Boulder’s “spread the wealth” program.

Do the Kirlins still get to build their dream house, or not??
The Kirlins said that they plan to sell the property.
Who would want to live next to such nasty, greedy...?
See, if I were a violent guy, and it had happened to me... uh... thanks george.
Thanks for the update g76. Husband and I were just talking about this a couple of weeks ago—wondering what happened. I don’t believe the thieves deserved one inch, but that’s just me.
The legal bills were getting crazy.
They end the lawsuits, sell the lot hopefully, and ?
Oh I believe that. I don't blame the Kirlins--they fought a great fight and taking it to the media helped them out bunches. I just don't think those nasty people deserved anything (if I were king of the world).
I hope the next lot they buy, they will fence off. ;)
Of course he did. Corrupt is as corrupt does.
