ABSTRACT: The host of the Republican Governors' Association event is Florida's Charlie Crist, a big believer in the "big tent" theory who calls his way of governing "a model for the country." Crist's priorities include addressing climate change and restoring civil rights of felons, and some Floridians are still waiting for their property tax bills to "drop like a rock," as he promised last year. He has appointed Democrats to high-level state posts, and he took the advice of a Democratic legislator in extending the hours of early voting before last week's election, a step some viewed as favorable to Obama. Crist says the key to success is for Republicans to be like him: work with Democrats, seek "common sense" solutions and avoid wedge issues that divide Floridians. "I'm very proud of how our administration has been able to bring people together in a bipartisan fashion almost a nonpartisan fashion," he said. Crist became Governor receiving 52 percent of the vote in 2006, in part due to the votes of Hispanics and a larger-than-expected share of African-American support. Exit polls show both groups voted decisively for Obama in Florida. Asked how the Republicans can win some of them back, Crist said: "You continue to push forward on issues like restoring felons' rights. That you demonstrate in a way that's manifested that all people of the state are important.
Everyone's included, and everyone's invited to the table."

Crist is a RINO.
If Florida is a glimpse into the Republican Party's future, then the whole nation will turn blue by 2012.
The fact that Crist could not hold the state for someone as liberal as McCain, shows he probably is going the route of Schwartzenegger, moving ever leftwards in an effort to save himself.
Sorry, Charlie...
Where’s the barf alert?
ALASKA! (its Governor’s policies!) is the hottest new destination for a clueless RNC.
The GOP grassroots has already ‘bookmarked’ the site as a favorite.
“You continue to push forward on issues like restoring felons’ rights...”
Aw, shucks. Just stop it, will ya’?
What’s the balance of power in the Florida legislature? What is the balance of power of the Florida congressional representation? If the GOP has the lead, and has expanded it, then maybe, just maybe, Crist is perhaps right.
But he has already shown to be unable to deliver the presidential vote, and this stupidity about extending voting rights to convicted felons shows how weak his position truly is.
Goddamn RINO.
His next move will be to advocate that all Republican’s join the Rat party and just Govern as a single party state.
“Crist calls Florida a model for future of GOP”
What model would that be Charlie?
If he thinks his namby-pamby centrism is the way for Republicans to win, I predict he will have a conversion to the Democrats sometime before the next election.
Barf Tsunami Alert!
Twinkle Toes Crist who Loves his long term boyfriend didn’t have the time or interest to try and help Save Terri Shindler from her horrific murder by her Ghoulish, Maniacal So-called Husband and did nothing to help win in 2008! being Insanely jealous of Sarah Palin and all women!
Governor Eyebrows Plucked Crist is NO spokesman or Leader for REAL MEN and WOMEN!
PALIN IN 2012!!
WTF is wrong with this man...does he not realize that his party is on the edge of extinction because of idiots like him. This man is my governor, and I cannot wait to vote against him. No more RINO’s, not now, not ever.
Crist has a severe case of overgrown Hemorroids!
Gosh knows what caused them.....
George Soros’ lost brother.
Actually it was Schiavo, her parents were Schindler... and Jeb Bush, not Charlie Crist was governor at the time.
I live in Florida. What exactly has Charlie done wrong?
Run, Charlie, run.
Crist-Palin Team 2012
