Presidential candidate
Alan Keyes, vice-presidential candidate Wiley S. Drake, and the Chairman of the American Independent Party, Markham Robinson, have filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento seeking to bar Secretary of State Debra Bowen from certifying to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger the names of Electors, and from transmitting to each presidential Elector a Certificate of Election, until documentary proof is produced and verified showing that Senator Obama is a "natural born" citizen of the United States, and does not hold citizenship of Indonesia, Kenya or Great Britain.
In addition, they have asked that the court issue a peremptory writ barring Senator Obama's California Electors from signing the Certificate of Vote until such documentary proof is produced and verified.
In response to questions about why the suit was being filed, Ambassador Keyes commented, "I and others are concerned that this issue be properly investigated and decided before Senator Obama takes office. Otherwise there will be a serious doubt as to the legitimacy of his tenure. This doubt would also affect the respect people have for the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. I hope the issue can be quickly clarified so that the new President can take office under no shadow of doubt. This will be good for him and for the nation."

I am really sick of seeing this Certification of Live birth. Even if this was real, it only states that he was registered in the State of Hawaii which was 4 days after he was born. This does not mean he was born in Hawaii. We all want to see the Certificate (not certification) of Live birth.

I don't know what else you can call it.
When you say that Americans should quit trying to find out if Obama is Constitutionally eligible to be President. That's MORE than IMPLYING the Constitution doesn't matter!!

This whole matter, no matter its ultimate disposition, is doing a number of good things. One, it is reminding people that we do have a Constitution, one which must be followed. Two, is is exposing those who couldn’t give a rip about the Constitution for who and what they really are. They just can’t help themselves. There are other side benefits as well.

or checked your doctor’s med school diploma,....
or asked for “evidence” that your lawyer passed the bar exam?

Is that everying blathering on and on about this issue, refuses to see that there are so many more important uses for the time of people who are not otherwised deranged, in preparing for the next round.... The next two years of trying to hold things together until we can put together a new conservative foundation in the GOP.

The "raging kookiness" will go away as soon as Obama provides the requested documents. The longer he avoids this, the more he fighs this, the more obvious it will be that he is hiding something.

If I thought there was any chance that this would accomplish anything, that there was a shred of objective evidence (not just in the minds of conspiracists), then I’d be on board.

Why isn’t Howard Dean’s name on this lawsuit. I know he is stepping down after 1 term but he is still involved as their President or whatever they call their leaders (DNC).
Please no flames. Just asking. I have followed this all along and I just noticed on the papers here his name is not there. I don’t know if it was on the other lawsuits also, but I believe Berg was suing the DNC too!.

What presidential candidate in history has had to provide proof of "natural-born citizenship?"
Keyes level of proof is ludicrous, e.g.,a certificate from every foreign country that BHO has lived in saying he's not one of theirs?
Should we have this circus perform in every state (and district) where BHO's electors were chosen? Are we going to give each secretary of state or state court the power to prevent electors from convening? Or to tell electors who they can or can't vote for?
It seems to be that the Constitution give to Congress alone the power to determing who is qualified to be president. If Keyes were more than a blowhard, he'd be lobbying the new Congress instead. Not that he'd have a chance. The new Congress in January will certify that Obama is the next president.
