NECN: Washington) - Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, who is fighting a malignant brain tumor, is back on Capitol Hill for work at his Senate offices.
Kennedy had a seizure in May and underwent surgery in June. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, he has increased his public activity. He spent time recovering at his Cape Cod home, and returned to Washington late last month.
Kennedy is not expected to fully return to his duties in the Senate until next year.
Kennedy statement:
"It's good to be back in the Senate. I am particularly looking forward to seeing my staff and my colleagues and to working in the current brief session on a realistic new stimulus package to help our fellow Americans who are suffering in this economic crisis.
I will also continue to lay the ground work for early action by Congress on health reform when President Obama takes office in January. We've been making real progress in our discussions about a consensus approach, and I'm optimistic we'll succeed.
I am grateful for the prayers and good wishes I've received over the past several months. They have certainly lifted my spirits, as has the election of Barack Obama as our 44th President."
Ted WHO?
I'm glad he's feeling better--just wish he would retire.
Actually he looks pretty good! His docs must be forcing him to reduce his alcohol consumption.
It looks like God answered our prayers that Kennedy get better when he took ill. He looks pretty healthy now too. Now I am thinking we need to pray to God that he have Kennedy retire and relax after a long public life even if it lasts 20 years. Oh that would be immediately.
If I posted what I really want to say I’d be kicked off FR.
Jabba returns!
Sen. Kennedy National Healthcare Reform Act next up....
I think he looks better, too. You’re probably right about the “booze diet”.
He won’t retire. He will continue to collect his salary to squeeze the last bit of $ he can out of the taxpayers.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if he died on July 18, 2009....
His one last chance to f**k the country.
“I’m glad he’s feeling better—just wish he would retire.”
Yep. He’s in his mid-70s, has brain cancer and a host of other medical problems that are decades old.
You’d think given all that, he’d want to spend his final days at home, peacefully surrounded by his family and true friends.
But noooo...he’ll spend his remaining time forcing socialized healthcare down our throats.
(sigh)
Looks like Murtha to me.
Not bad for what he’s gone through.
I heard from a good source that Bush fell to his knees and kissed his ass.
“Therefore he is fit enough to be criticized and opposed with all our might.”
I agree.
P.S.
I mean his ring.
PREDICTION: Old Teddy will hang around longer than RASPUTIN.
the swimmer has demanded her heinous have NO part in the health care legislation.
Welcome back, a-hole. Why don't you just retire?
