Employees of the Los Angeles restaurant that came under fire this week after a manager gave $100 to the campaign to ban same-sex marriage in California said they had made a $500 contribution to the advocacy group that is raising money to challenge Proposition 8.
The Thursday online donation to Equality California, an advocacy group for the gay and lesbian community, came at precisely 7:22:03 p.m., about 22 minutes into a planned demonstration outside the restaurant's doors for the second night in a row.
"It will go toward our work, and our work includes working to overturn Proposition 8," said Ali Bay, a spokeswoman for Equality California. "We're working legislatively and through the courts to promote equality for the [lesbian and gay] community."
Over the last week, online social networking sites and blogs have urged people to boycott El Coyote Mexican Cafe on Beverly Boulevard because of the $100 donation by Marjorie Christoffersen, a manager at the restaurant and a daughter of El Coyote's owner.
Christoffersen, a Mormon, met with protesters Wednesday, and at one point broke down in tears. But some activists said they still faulted her for making the donation.
According to another manager, Arnoldo Archila, El Coyote employees pooled their money to make the donation -- though it wasn't clear who actually contributed. He said Christoffersen was not involved in the decision.

WOW...
“Corporate Sponsors at $10,000 and above annually”
It’ll be a pleasure to take my share of that “$10,000 and above” and put it to far better use than supporting those who advocate the suppression of free speech and religious intolerance.
” all that is needed is to shut down free discourse (talk radio, about the only thing left) and dampen the same on the internet in order to isolate people from sharing like-minded opinions and banding together. Once isolated, they are far less likely to organize into any effective resistance movement and that is what we will see happen...”
YES - THIS IS KEY ALINSKY METHOD - ISOLATION. THE KEY THING TO RESPOND IS TO REFUTE THE ISOLATION BY MAKING A NOISE IN RESPONSE.
COUNTER-FREEPS ARE VERY EFFECTIVE IN THESE SITUATIONS.
“Instead we can get on here, fire off a few hot missives, and feel like we’ve said our peace...’to hell with it all.’ I’m beginning to wonder...does FR really help the conservative cause, overall?”
It reduces isolation factors to know there are like-minded folks... but if the community is not turned into ORGANIZED action, then it is not changing anything.
Please somebody take the hint in Cali:
COUNTER-FREEPS ARE VERY EFFECTIVE IN THESE SITUATIONS.
“MARRIAGE WON. GAY-HATE LOST. GET OVER IT.”
“Stop the H8TE AGAINST 8”
OK folks here is the list of corporate sponsors of gay hate and destruction of marriage:
Allstate American Airlines Anita May Rosenstein Club Skirts Coors EMD Serono Fiji Water Frontiers Fuse Events Health Net Here! TV Hpnotiq In Los Angeles Indymac Bank Keller Williams KPL Select Mortgage Nordstrom Oro de Jalisco Pinnacle Contracting Sempra Energy Showtime Tylenol PM Warner Bros. Wells Fargo
This needs to backfire bigtime but getting a BIG AMOUNT OF PRO-PROP 8 SUPPORT for this establishment. Get the pro-Prop 8 forces to come out and dine there and stand up to the vicious violent thugs.
All that for a $100.00 contribution which was noted on a political contribution site.
What about all the annonymous contributions to 0bama ?
If political free speech, which is what contributions are, can be subject to harrassment, which is what these protestors are doing, how far will this go ?
EXTORTION Plain and simple.....
Add Anarchy, acts of terrorism and hate crimes to your list.

Political protests are one thing, but when old-fashioned bullying techniques that prompt fear of safety are used, activists have crossed a line. There is a difference between respectful dissent and advocacy for one’s civil rights and demanding public endorsement of what many still consider “unnatural sexual behavior” through hate language and fear tactics. One thing is for sure: The days of peaceful marches like those headed up by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. seem to be long gone.
The truth is that the great majority of Prop 8 advocates are not bigots or hatemongers. They are American citizens who are following 5,000 years of human history and the beliefs of every major people group and religion that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Their pro-Prop 8 votes weren’t intended to deprive any group of their rights they were safeguarding their honest convictions regarding the boundaries of marriage.
On Nov. 4, the pro-”gay” community was obviously flabbergasted that a state that generally leans Left actually voted Right when it came to holy matrimony. But that’s exactly what happened the majority of Californians, red, yellow, black and white, voted to maintain the margins of marriage between one man and one woman. California is the 30th state in our union to amend its constitution in doing so, joining Florida and Arizona in this election, too. Like it or not, it’s the law now. The people have spoken.
More than anything else about Obama’s election, this is what frightens me most.
No one will stand up & stop this kind of intimidation. Not law enforcement, not the courts, not the citizens.
Seriously, I'm losing sleep over it.
