And what percentage say they like chocolate cake, means about the same, it’s a long time from now.

I wonder who Newt is speaking for?
He seems to be deaf to the voice of the base - who like to see Palin pay a larger role.

Gingrich keeping his options open. He may run for President in 2012 and doesn’t want to endorse his competition.

Rather presumptuous.

Newt says 20 or 30 players instead of one informal leader.

The more the merrier.

She may not be the leader in Newt’s eyes, she dang sure is in mine and virtually every conservative I’ve spoken with. If our ticket had been flip-flopped, we would’ve won.

I agree with Gingrich...she will be in the running, but not the anointed leader. She has a head start and she is already in a front runner position, barring any screw ups.

However, we should also remember that Gingrich probably still sees himself as a possible candidate in 2012. This is why he supports Lt. Gov. Steele as GOP chairman...Gingrich is already positioning himself within the party in case he wants the nomination...Newt would be an extremely formidable candidate against Obama. Newt is of superior intellect, of superior ideas and can stand up to anyone in rhetoric or debate.

Lets all believe the MSM headline! Lets attack one of our own based upon a misrepresentation of rather simple and straightforward remarks. Gov. Sarah Palin is not the “de facto” nominee for the GOP. But she is the most popular Republican candidate among Republicans.

Republicans can vote for whoever they wish, but I think I will vote for a true conservative.

I don’t think Palin will run in 2012. I would support her if she did but I don’t see that happening. One thing I don’t want to see is 20-30 candidates and most certainly we can do without the early starters like Romney and Guiliani who helped screw up the process this election. They got out early drained money and resources and left us to a general election disadvantage. Romney should have ran for a Senate seat. Guiliani would’ve did well to do the same. Huckabee even would have made a good Senate candidate. We can not afford to have such a wide field next time with big money candidates getting out early and fragmenting the field so much that we end up with the last man standing and everyone wondering how we ended up with a less than stellar candidate. I personally could not believe that we had a field full of Global Warming Gore sympathizers, candidates that proposed Health Care plans not much different than Hillary Clinton, and with records on parole that gave Michael Dukakis a run for his money. All the while the real conservative principled candidates were left late to the game with little money and a press all too glad to manipulate the field by lifting up individuals like Mike Huckabee and deriding those that may have actually been effectively during a general election race. It certainly kind of helps to have someone who doesn’t list among his biggest accomplishments those he forged with Ted Kennedy. Regardless Palin wasn’t the problem.

And who is that?

And why is Gov. Sarah Palin not a “true” conservative?

And Rudy was far and away the leader in polls following the 2004 election.

Gov. Palin was never the problem, she was the solution.....and even if McCain botched the election....not really his fault with such a disadvantage of money......the Gov has inspired us and reinvigorated us...

we have to realize however that politics is a dirty business.....somewhere we are going to have to make alliances with some evil industries or even countries, because there is no way to outdo b.o. without money.....

our country can be conservative and frugal without having a conservative president, but we have to take back the Senate and the Congress ....lets start there..

I’ve read that he has considered running, but that’s besides the point. I agree that he is trying to dim the light on Palin. I don’t understand this strategy, other than envy that Sarah has the ability to unite the base, something that they don’t. A smart individual would ally themselves to Sarah. But of course that would mean bringing their ego down a notch.
