Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader By Alexander Bolton Posted: 11/16/08 01:05 PM [ET]

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.

But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the party’s leader, as some have predicted.

“I think that she is going to be a significant player,” said Gingrich during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation”. “But she’s going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She’s not going to be the de facto leader.”

Since the defeat of the GOP ticket, Palin has pursued an aggressive media strategy, scheduling a full slate of interviews to keep her face on television.

"We have better and they deserve a chance. McCain doesn’t get to decide the future of the party."

HEAR HEAR!

McCain is political roadkill - of his OWN doing.

Good riddance. I NEVER want to see his RINO bi-partisan @ss-kissing ever again in the US Senate or ANYWHERE....

Maybe he can finally legally marry Lieberman now in Connecticut.

Newt is too late. Sarah is the leader already.

And I, for one, am very happy about that.

Now hopefully Mike Pence and other real conservatives will get a lot of attention too, and invigorate America for change from the fascism of Obama.

1) don't drink the MSM koolaid, she has accomplished a great deal in a short time

2)she HAD to try and follow the McCain playbook on GWing, as a matter of fact those of us who followed her pre-McCain were aware she has the State of Alaska suing the Federal Government over the Department of Interior's stupid Polar Bear ruling... she is a conservationist, not an environmentalist and in this case there is a difference.

he was congressman for 6 years as one of the 1994 Freshmen. he served on the International Relations Commitee as well as the Joint Economic Committee. He was elected and re-elected governor of South carolina.
This is what he wrote about the bailout:

What is more important for a LEADER? A clear conscience, clear vision and a record to match OR a series of compromises both personal and public to Christian, moral and Conservative principles, coupled with a KEEN intellectual gift?

Why did you have to take it to the Supreme Court?

Steele is also against overturning Roe vs Wade.

He is a social liberal.

So why are so many lining up in favor of his RNC bid?

What superficial factor could be in play?

The media picked McCain for us. Don't you remember the the media swooning over McCain early on? I sure do because I sent my early donation to Fred. A lot of good that did. I still like Fred and wish I knew the whole REAL story about him. He will be pretty old in 4 years so I don't expect him back.

The media always sets out very early to destroy the ones they fear, like they are doing Palin now. I think they feared Fred and Hunter too. They knew McCain was beatable and they loved him for it.

no she doesn’t. But it also means that she can’t change her position...that would be Romneyesque.

But she has as much chance of winning the primary as Mike Huckabee does, -0-. Nota. Zilch. Way too much baggage

How about this news update..... SHE is the ONLY reason I bothered to VOTE this year!!! What ya think about that?

I think she could easily when a primary when talking like a CONSERVATIVE! She would tell the RINO's and DEMS to stay the hell on THEIR side of the isle. This "reaching across" makes me want to toss my cookies!

I loathe the Messiah, but he clearly comes across as thoughtful and articulate, uhs and ums notwithstanding, and capable of articulating a thought beyond soundbite complexity. The current occupant of the Oval Office certainly can’t and Palin certainly needs some work.

She is not the typical bland evangelical conservative. Look at her record. She is far from it. She took out her own party.

No, she's a smart, pretty, and an energetic evangelical.

What evidence is there that this smart, pretty, and an energetic evangelical would lift one finger to aid my family if we faced violence because of our faith? If my church was burned or if the homosexual groups start hunting down Latter-day Saints who gave money to help Prop 8?

Or I'm sure in four years to support another marriage or moral issue.

What confidence could I possibly have that Sarah Palin the evangelical would care one bit that this Mormon lived or died?

I don't want another Martin Van Buren as president.

"He knew how it would be portrayed in the media. It's clearly a shot at Palin."

He wanted it "portrayed in the media" that we have a lot of good choices for leader.

That's a pretty weak "shot at Palin" LOL!

I'm delighted to see the enthusiasm for The Governor, but this thinskinnedness is getting out of hand.

she raised taxes on oil companies.

And gave the money to the people of Alaska.

Alaska had been content with crumbs for a very long time, till Palin saw they were being screwed.

Isn't that what Obama told "Joe the Plumber" he was going to do?

So what's the difference?
