I would rather take the word of law enforcement agencies than this group who have been long been associated with exaggeration.

Certainly, there have been incidents, no doubt, but the frequency is a matter for official agencies to publish.

Also what everyone needs to keep in mind is that ANYONE can report ANYTHING to police and get a report.

It does not mean it actually happened. It just means it was “reported.”
