Barack Obama Links Israel Peace Plan To 1967 Borders Deal

Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America’s president-elect.

Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party.

The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.

On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be “crazy” for Israel to refuse a deal that could “give them peace with the Muslim world”, according to a senior Obama adviser.

The Arab peace plan received a boost last week when President Shimon Peres, a Nobel peace laureate and leading Israeli dove, commended the initiative at a Saudi-sponsored United Nations conference in New York.

Peres was loudly applauded for telling King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, who was behind the original initiative: “I wish that your voice will become the prevailing voice of the whole region, of all people.”

I, living in Los Angeles area, know a heck of a lot of liberal jewish people in the media. They are blindly voting for obama and proud of it.

"A bipartisan group of senior foreign policy advisers urged Obama to give the Arab plan top priority immediately after his election victory."

The deal would be that Israel

in exchange for:

...What a bargain!

According to a Washington source Obama told Abbas:

“The Israelis would be crazy not to accept this initiative. It would give them peace with the Muslim world from Indonesia to Morocco.”

A leading Democratic expert on the Middle East said:

“There’s not a lot of meat on the bones yet, but it offers recognition of Israel across the Arab world.”

...What a deal! This plan brought to you by:

Dennis Ross, Dan Kurtzer, Nobel laureate Shimon Peres, Brent "NWO" Scowcroft, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Lee Hamilton, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and Barack Obama.

This article also said,

Ehud Olmert, the prime minister, last week expressed his support for Israel’s withdrawal from the West Bank, Golan Heights and east Jerusalem.

Israel will never have secure borders. Once Israel retreats from the Golan, Syria will attack before the last vehicle crosses the “new” border. The arabs are just trying to get as much territory back as they can before they attack. If you believe any treaty with Israel would be honored, you are naive. They would recognize Israel alright, recognize that they are destroying it.

And as far as I am concerned, an arab capital in Jerusalem would be beyond blasphemy. The arabs got the majority of the land Israel was supposed to get when the state was recreated in 48, and they will not rest until they get the rest of it. Fortunately God has other plans.

At the Al Smith dinner Obama joked that his middle name was really "Steve." He should have said it was really "Neville."

All the old Arab-Israeli peace negotiation experts from the Carter, Bush-41, and Clinton years will be hired back, after being in the wilderness for the last 8 years.

Tzipi Livni is going to lose the election in February. She's an empty suit like Obama. And even more dim-witted than her predecessor, whom no one misses.

Ok, it is clear then. Supporters of Israel must do everything in their power to defeat Tzipi Livni in the coming election. Defeat Livni, and you defeat Obama's plan to destroy Israel.

Good grief, an Obamista actually thinks the Arabs he's been talking to are telling the truth.

Like he gives a crap whether they are or are not

I can see Israel going back to 1967 borders then getting constant missile/rocket bombardment from Palestinians. This is inevitable

Do you really think any in the Obama administration will care or say "I'm sorry"?

Tzipi Livni is a vegetarian. I have nothing against vegetarians but they lack aggressiveness and aggressive self defense is what Israel needs

The non aggressive will die in the Middle East
Arab Muslims can smell the rot of cowardice and non-aggression

This deal would be absolute suicide for Israel. I hope their government realizes it. As soon as Israel withdrew to the 1967 borders the next arab Israeli war would begin. And Israel would have given away any strategic advantage it has gained in the last 40 years.

This is obvious to anyone
The Obama people know this will only bring Israel misery and destruction and they either don't care or this is what they want

Obama waged a successful war against Hillary and a war against John McCain. No bullets were used but....
Obama and his people are not stupid.
They sell Israel out because it brings them more power

they will never be satisfied until Isreal is again Palestine

It's Israel. You're spelling it wrong.

Your writing is really quite poor. The message is lost among the many errors.

Essentially the GWB/Condi plan.

If Israel doesn't want it, it's their task to resist.

If Obama, like GWB, makes this dance a "cornerstone" of American policy, he's a fool.

But he probably will, I expect him to be less insightful reading terrorists hearts than GWB was with Putin, who will soon be giving BHO some heartburn.

Yep! They feed off of weakness or perceived weakness. This allows them to continue their ultimate Jihad in this area. First the pre-1967 borders using the principles of Hudaybiya. Then the next phase to extirpate the "Zionist enemy."

This article misrepresents both what Peres, Livni and Ehud Barak said. None endorsed the Saudi Plan except as a starting point for negotiation and recognition of Israel by the entire Arab League. They did not agree to return all pre 1967 land or the Palestinian right of return.

The Arabs would gain more with the strategery of this deal than the Intifada. After the get the land and the recognition they could then resume the intifada while Iran stregnthens. It would be genius for the Arabs but they would break the deal before the ink dried.
