There’s a gun show in Raleigh, NC next weekend and I wanted to see about another purchase, but the hand gun permit can take up to 30 days to be approved. I don;t think I have time. Maybe a rifle or shotgun.
Hope you can get to the point of being able to get something. God knows there may come a day when we’re glad we spent the money.
I just added a WASR GP 10/63 to my stable. It’s a Romanian AK derivative that used to be @ $300 or so. I paid $450. There are a few issues to look for you can google but this is a great rifle from a cost/reliability perspective.
A good idea would be to either talk to a gun buddy/friend and see if they can source you something privately, contact an FFL to order through, or comb the shops until you find a good deal.
While I have seen many people rant about price increase there are a number of dealers that are trying to hold the line. It is equally important to have an adequate supply of ammunition.
Finally, don’t think you have to have an AR or AK. They’re sexy and have thier purpose but for most situations there are rifles you can get on clearance sales at Walmart that will protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In Ohio, you can buy a handgun at a gunshow and walk right out with it. No wait time. I don’t know the laws in NC, but you should look into it.
The gunshow we went to today was packed. Wall to Wall people. It would be very hard for a new gun buyer to make a choice. I highly recommend a neighborhood gun shop or a range. Either place can offer more info and hands on. The internet is great for info, but you still need to hold it to see if it is right for you.
