"2. McCain and Palin don’t have (or aren’t supposed to have) any information about Obama’s citizenship. They are only citizens like the rest of us and Obama has Hawaiian privacy rights."

All during the campaign Palin and McCain preached the virtues of always putting country first. If they believe Obama was ineligible to serve as president I can't believe they'd sit back and let it happen. They are both more than any other American in a position to question his eligibility and neither one has.

"3. Does the president have the legal right to pry into the files of citizens? Or is that illegal? Does he have to get a court order to do so? Maybe he hasn’t checked. Maybe he is like you and considers it unlikely. The out going President isn’t charged with the duty to vet the incoming candidate.

The President takes an oath to defend the US from all it's enemies. That oath is all that is required to prevent an ineligible person from assuming the highest office in our country. He doesn't need to consult a lawyer before he fulfills the oath he swore to defend. Again if there is any question of eligibility and the president fails to act in the interest of our country he should be impeached.

I agree!

“If they believe Obama was ineligible to serve as president I can’t believe they’d sit back and let it happen.”

I can’t know what they know or don’t know. McCain wouldn’t call Obama a Socialist even though he was a literal “card-carrying” member with pictures to prove it on the internet. McCain wouldn’t run commercials with Wright in them. That doesn’t mean that McCain/Palin is in on some conspiracy.
