Nixon met with Kennedy but it sure wasn’t to pay homage. Kennedy was begging him to back off and not challenge the election results “for the good of the country”.

But Nixon knew any challenge would fail with Demos doing the counting or recounting in TX, MO, and IL. Nixon was determined to play the “Country First” type. Republicans alwsys do when it benefits the Democrats. Haven’t we heard that line recently for a short time?
