Please. Stop and think. Where are you going to get the people to achieve a number sufficient to win an election? They’re going to have to come from the Republican party. It’s the same people with a different name. Why don’t we just change the name of the Republican party and make everyone feel happy.
Exactly! [It's nice to know someone else recognizes that our government is already socialist, too]
How about the Conservative Americans For America party?
CAFA for short.
And with your line of thinking, you must have helped design new Coke
I agree with you but I'm also going to scold you. Aren't you a Methodist minister? Methodists are also for the exteminating of innocent life. How do you reconcile that?
You are willing to throw the Republican party overboard and yet you stand by the Methodist "church" which is far worse.
I demand more from my church than my political party.
This is the kind of language . . . “reach out” . . . which actually means compromise on more and more principle, that accentuates the author's statement about the Republican Party being a Junior Democratic Party -— headed the same direction!
Where are the Republican strategists who can TEACH what Republicanism is; what a REPUBLIC is?!
The only way of “reaching out” is to go in to those communities and find ways to teach people how that they will very soon lose under socialism.
Republicans need to send people out with missionary zeal to instruct people what is really happening.
BUT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO IT!!
It is the Republican Party itself that has presented the reason for Republicans to seek third parties.
I agree wholeheartedly that the Republican Party has been begging for our support without any intent to stand by us.
I believe that a two-party system is the most stable, and the bent toward a parliamentary view of electing presidents will only make us another Britain or Europe — or India, or Pakistan . . . or worse!
But my question (which I have asked in many posts) is:
WHY DOES IT FOREVER HAVE TO BE THE SAME TWO PARTIES?!!
Why not replace the Republican Party with a Constitutional, truly American party?
There are several, more Constitutional, third parties which deserve our attention.
One or more of the Constitutional third parties have been against the MANNER in which we have prosecuted the War on Terror. They have taken grief from Republicans, including many on these pages.
It is not because they are pacifist, or anti-war, or anti-military, or weak on defense, but simply because they believe that our defense against our enemies, as well as every other aspect of governing ans securing, should be in adherence to the United States Constitution.
Many, perhaps thousands of pro-military, go-after-our-enemies Constitutionalists could give the right answers for the prosecution of a war of this type on the afternoon of September 11, 2001. They are not weak men. They could have gotten the job done with soldiers and rifles and bombs long before this at much less cost in money and lives.
We do need to replace this Grumpy Obsolete Party, and the sooner the better.
My sense is that the Constitution Party is very, very close to what I'm looking for.
Anti-restriction, individualist conservatives would tend toward the Libertarian Party. They're too highbrow and pro-choice for me. I can't support anything that's pro-choice. It violates my commitment to God.
Huh? Hope for what? More socialism and big gubmint?
Surely, you can see the extreme threat that is in Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
And we have the Rebuplican Party to blame for that.
Why give up gained territory?
Gained territory? Did you just wake up, Rip?
And don't forget the liberal "churches" which may be the worst of all of them. If we can't trust our churches, who can we trust?
Here are the list of "churches" that belong to the socialistic, anti-Christ, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual group.
Then we have bitchers and complainers here on FR about the Republican party and how many of them continue to fund this travesty.
They expect perfection from their political party but accept every kind of perversion from their church.:

It's a good example though. Why is it we get a conservative into a position of power and then they sell us out?
I think it's because we don't control the purse strings. They get to DC and quickly discover that to get reelected they need to fall in line in order to get money to run a campaign. If we fund a PAC that only supports conservatives and do not give money to the GOP we can control the purse strings. Also, if this is effective the power to endorse or remove endorsement further erodes the DC power elites.
That's the first time I've ever read the principles of the Constitution Party. Very interesting and very compelling. Thank you for posting that.
Human nature is human nature. It will always be that way. Get elected to office and see what happens.
“Why dont we just change the name of the Republican party and make everyone feel happy.”
It might be a lot easier for everyone if you just changed your name again. How about `GOPgreatgrandma’?
Exactly, and our side is willing to surrender it. It makes them feel morally superior.
The problem isn't the name, it's who is in control.
And those who are now in control aren't going to give up control ever.
Therefore it's dead, my friend. Dead. Dead. Dead.
And so, your subjective view on whether a new party will work or not is irrelevant. Whether or not it will work it must be tried.
What about the "Free Republic Party" .. we've already got the base for it right here.
I’ll forgive you for that but this is symptomatic of where we are. We will forever be relegated to the back of the bus until we can decide we have some common ground on which to fight.
Because the Methodist Church is going in the right direction on Life. Libertarians are already in the wrong camp.
I’m willing to throw the Republican Party overboard because I do not see them going in the right direction.
Those who know the UMC know that this past denominational conference in May 08, they took even more steps back toward an affirmation of life. (Many also don’t know that the UMC is arranged in bishop’s areas, and that each of these is virtually independent. There is no head bishop or head anything. The “head” is the 4 year denominational meeting known as the “General Conference.)
We need to use that money to run primary campaigns AGAINST incumbent Republicans who are NOT conservatives. We need to remove the cancer from the party before we ever hope to bring it to health.
I was just thinking the same thing. ;)
I'm looking at how the radical left took over the Rats. I will fight everything they want to do and believe in, but I recognize they have created an effective model to turn the RAT party to their will.
Our problem has always been that we will support conservatives, get them elected and then they sell us out. How do we change that? Control the money and endorsements!
Thank you for some logic rather than anger.
